About

Ulysses Stephen King, Jr.

My blog is about my lived experiences and independent thought as an African American Christian, pastor-teacher, and Christian humanist (i.e., lover of humanity).  It is my expedition, if you will, like the ancient mythological Greek warrior, Ulysses, who called upon his fellow mariners to join him on one final journey, adventure, and heroic quest.

My blog invites the reader to adventures of faith (old and new), disappointments, doubts, failures, triumphs, and victories.  I write about conflicts of faith and the difficulty of bringing into harmony my lived experiences with my faith.

My purpose is to provoke critical Christian thought and discussions that may be outside the norm or parameters of our traditional Christian experience.  It is not intended to be a devotional or testimonial blog using popular Christian phrases, clichés or slogans.  On the contrary, some readers may even question whether my faith and relationship with Christ is genuine.  It is not my purpose to offend anyone, any church, or denomination.

Ultimately, I hope that my over fifty years of experience and witness as a Christian, and thirty years as a pastor-teacher, will inspire you to pursue your own purpose and destiny.
